The next generation of the Porsche 911 will get a hybrid version and it will surge primarily to the performance to significantly improve. The border of the 700-hp is in sight.
A Porsche 911 is hybridisering not at all entered in the same way as in a Toyota Prius. That seems obvious. So it’s no surprise that Olivier Blume, the CEO of Porsche, our colleagues from the British Autocar has been suggested that the first plug-in hybrid 911 on the market will come as the most powerful 911 in the long history of the model. “The plug-in hybrid 911 should be an extremely high-performance car,” he said. “It is the most powerful 911 ever, and 700 hp is certainly attainable”. Blume clarified that the technology will be inherited from that of the 918 Spyder and Panamera. The director would also have a “special button” to get that temporary boost can be recalled. This hybrid version will, however, still have to wait a while. The next generation of the 911 codenamed 992 would still at the end of this year, to be revealed during the Paris motor show, but the plug-in hybrid is still a couple of years, says Blume. Probably against 2020/2021.
