SsangYong still enjoys an exclusive status in the Dutch street scene. You can see more of a 911 than drive a SsangYong. If you already have an encounter, it is usually a Rexton with a horse trailer or stall out. It is a really car for the trader that a robust and yet relatively cheap car will.
In January, we were the first eye-to-eye with the new SsanYong Rexton. We were very impressed by the design and the finishing in the interior. Time to get him extended to his differential to feel!
For the Dutch market put SsangYong, especially in the grey plate version of the Rexton. By the legislation regarding BPM is the personenversie simply to pricey to really jars can break. In Belgium it is different, and there are precisely less bestelvarianten sold, according to the Dutch-Belgian importer.
What is this a great car
Previously we asked, and with us many others, of us seeing a SsangYong wondering what the head design inspired to the designs to approve. Think of the first generation of Rodius that between 2004 and 2013 was available on the market. Or the Actyon of the facelift. Fortunately it looks like the leak above, because the models that SsangYong currently performs smoothness a lot finer. So too, the Rexton, it is a huge car and yet it is the Koreans managed to get a nice set of lines to put down that European looks. Certainly in our tested version, with black (winter)wheels, he makes the impression.
Impression he makes, due to its size. What is this a big car. In the cargo area behind the bulkhead behind the front seats, you can sun 2200 litres of luggage, tools or equipment lost. The floor is flat and accessible via the rear door or the rear doors. Useful is the darkened rear glass in the rechterachterportier, instead of a black plexiglasplaat, so that the dead angle is not so great.
When we step in we feel good. You sit high and nice, in the file, you can look on everything and everyone around you. The chairs in our testauto are lined with fine nappa leather and can be heated if cooling. The diamond stitching on both the seats as parts of the dashboard to increase the appearance of the interior. True luxury! The dashboard is made up of mostly soft materials and looks neat. The large 9,2-inch touchscreen is bright, sharp and works extremely well. The system has good navigation and the audio system leaves little to be desired. Also Android Auto and Apple Carplay be supported.
Pleasantly quiet and comfortable
Time to hit the road. We start the 2.2-litre measuring four-cylinder diesel with the start button and what is immediately striking is that these are barely audible. He delivers 181 horsepower and 420 newton-meters in our testauto which is equipped with the seven-speed automatic transmission. If you choose a Rexton with the manual gearbox, then you have with 20 Nm less. The Rexton is, by default, always rear wheel drive. Do you want to off-road driving then you can manually switch to four-wheel drive with high or low gearing. Because the Rexton uses a ladderchassis he may, in combination with automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, 3,500 kilograms of pull. Along the way, we notice that the Rexton is a comfortable companion, the diesel engine shows hardly heard and the machine switches quietly. Also the wind noise has SsangYong remarkably well for a car with such a large frontal area. Steering and braking is light and with ease.
SsangYong launches in the Netherlands, especially on entrepreneurs with the Rexton. For about 27,000 euro excluding tax and VAT you have the basic design on a gray license plate for the door. This is significantly cheaper than the competition. Add to this that the Rexton a good drive and a comfortable interior, and you wonder why you are still so few on the road.
